In the first eight months of 2024, Indonesia's exports of natural and synthetic rubber have significantly decreased, with the total export volume dropping by 14%, drawing market attention. According to data from QinRex, Indonesia exported a total of 1.053 million tons of rubber during this period, of which 1.044 million tons were natural rubber (excluding composite rubber), representing a 14% decline compared to the same period last year.

Among various types of natural rubber products, the export volume of standard rubber was 1.02 million tons, down 14% year-over-year, smoked sheet rubber exports were 25,000 tons, down 7%, and latex product exports sharply fell by 74% to just 700 tons. This declining trend indicates the instability of global demand and the challenges in the market.

Exports to China, in particular, saw a significant reduction, with total exports of natural and synthetic rubber combined falling by 41% year-over-year to 95,000 tons. Natural rubber exports accounted for 86,000 tons of this, dropping by 42%, and synthetic rubber exports were 9,000 tons, down by 31%. This drop highlights the importance of the Chinese market in the global rubber supply chain and the impact of current market fluctuations on suppliers.

Industry experts believe this trend of declining exports may continue to affect the profitability and long-term development of Indonesia's rubber industry. Market analysts are also closely monitoring how further changes in the global economic situation could impact rubber demand and potential fluctuations in rubber prices.
