On July 28th, the world's first synthetic rubber futures and options were listed on the Shanghai Futures Exchange.

 

Among them, synthetic rubber futures with butadiene rubber as the underlying commodity were listed at 9am.

 

Synthetic rubber options were listed at 21:00 on the same day.

 

It is reported that listing synthetic rubber futures and options can help improve market-oriented pricing mechanisms.

 

At the same time, it can assist in the transformation and upgrading of the rubber and tire industry, filling the pricing gap in the industrial chain.

 

Data shows that China is the world's largest producer, consumer, and importer of synthetic rubber

 

In 2022, China's main synthetic rubber production was 4.842 million tons, accounting for 23% of the global market, and its consumption reached 5.454 million tons, accounting for 35%.

 

According to the average price calculation in 2022, the size of China's main synthetic rubber consumption market is approximately 72 billion yuan.
