Yokohama Breaks Ground on New Tire Plant in Mexico
Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. recently held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new tire plant in the Alianza Industrial Park in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico.
The ceremony saw key Yokohama officials in attendance, including Masataka Yamishi, Chairman and CEO of Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.; Shinichi Takimoto, CEO of Yokohama Corp. North America; and Jeff Barna, President and CEO of Yokohama Tire Corp.
During the event, Barna expressed gratitude, stating, "We stand here today in celebration and gratitude for the world's best employees and customers. Without their collective commitment, determination, and dedication to the Yokohama brand, today would not have been possible."
According to Yokohama officials, the state-of-the-art plant will cover 150 acres. Construction is expected to commence soon, with production slated to begin in early 2027, targeting an annual output of 5 million tires.
Barna emphasized the strategic importance of the new plant, saying, "With the establishment of this factory, we are not only bringing our products closer to our local customers but also raising the quality and accessibility of our offerings."
This initiative is poised to create local job opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and further solidify Yokohama's leading position in the global tire industry.
