Hankook Tire Supports Lamborghini in Thrilling Racing Showdown

On September 9th, the 2023 season of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Challenge ignited at the Shanghai International Circuit.

As the official technical partner and exclusive tire supplier for the event, Hankook Tires provided custom-made Ventus racing tires for all Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 race cars participating in the competition, setting the stage for an exhilarating display of peak-speed racing.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Challenge is a renowned single-brand racing event, featuring a global circuit spanning Europe, North America, Asia, and a world final showdown. The competition includes professional, professional-amateur, amateur, and Lamborghini Cup categories. The Shanghai leg of the event is the fifth of six in the Asian series for this year and the penultimate race in the international series. With the professional category champions already decided in the South Korean leg of the event in August, the atmosphere in Shanghai was especially electric, as the competition for the professional-amateur, amateur, and Lamborghini Cup categories heated up.

The Shanghai International Circuit, designed by renowned international architect Hermann Tilke, boasts a track configuration resembling the Chinese character "上" (shàng). It stretches approximately 5.451 kilometers in total length, with the longest straight measuring 1,175 meters. The track features 14 different-radius corners. Notably, the circuit's highest elevation drop is 8 meters, with a peak drop of 12 meters and a maximum incline of 3% and decline of 8%. The top speed on this track can reach 327 kilometers per hour. With its mix of elevation changes, tight corners requiring braking down to 87 kilometers per hour, and dramatic speed differentials, the Shanghai International Circuit presents a formidable challenge for both drivers and their tires, demanding high performance and reliability.

To meet the demands of the event, Hankook specially customized Ventus racing tires for the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2 race cars. These tires feature a new intermediate compound formula that delivers high levels of grip and consistency on all conditions and tracks, providing a reliable guarantee for the race cars as they navigated the significant speed differentials at the Shanghai International Circuit.Each Lamborghini Super Trofeo Challenge race car is managed by private teams that offer their expertise in tuning for the drivers.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Challenge is not just a motorsport event but also a motorsport culture carnival. Lamborghini, in partnership with Hankook Tires, prepared a motorsport culture feast for attending media and racing enthusiasts.

On September 9th, between the qualifying and official races, media and racing enthusiasts enjoyed a unique "Garage Tour," offering a close-up look at the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 race cars. This tour provided insights into the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Challenge and even allowed participants to experience a virtual version of the challenge firsthand, immersing themselves in the Lamborghini's high-speed DNA and motorsport culture.

Hankook provided two types of Ventus racing tires for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Challenge: the slick "dry tire" for dry road conditions, maximizing the vehicle's top speed, and the grooved "wet tire" for rainy or highly humid road surfaces, enhancing grip and minimizing slipping.
