On April 23rd, a significant milestone was reached as the groundbreaking ceremony for the Therban hydrogenated nitrile rubber factory, a flagship project by the globally renowned synthetic rubber producer Arlanxeo, took place in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.
Key figures including Pan Dongling, Deputy Mayor of Changzhou City, Arlanxeo CEO Bob Lin, and Arlanxeo China General Manager Sun Hong, among others, graced the occasion.
With a total investment of $210 million (approximately ¥1.512 billion RMB), this state-of-the-art facility is poised to have an annual production capacity of around 5,000 tons. Anticipated to commence operations in the third quarter of 2025, the factory will supply approximately 2,500 tons of high-quality synthetic rubber to the market each year.
Notably, the project has been accorded the status of a key initiative in Changzhou City, reflecting its strategic importance and positive impact on the local economy.
This venture underscores Arlanxeo's continued commitment to investing in Changzhou since its establishment in 2016. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, Arlanxeo boasts a global presence with over 11 production facilities across 8 countries and 5 technical centers worldwide.
The products manufactured by Arlanxeo find diverse applications across industries, including automotive, tire manufacturing, oil, and natural gas, further solidifying its position as a leading player in the global synthetic rubber market.
